ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Methodist men's soccer program suffered a 2-0 loss to Emory at the N.C. Wesleyan Fall Classic on Saturday afternoon.
The Monarchs fall to 0-2 on the year, while the Eagles move to 2-1 overall.
Emory got on the board first in the 19th minute after a chip shot from Jason McCartney was able to beat the keeper, 1-0. The rest of the first half went scoreless, before Christian Meyer of Emory posted a goal at the 54:09 mark to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.
Scott Brecke (0-2) took the loss after registering three saves for the Monarchs. Graham LaBran-Boyd (2-1) tallied the victory after also recording three saves
Emory held an 11-7 advantage with shots, while MU tallied five shots on target on Saturday afternoon.
MU returns to action tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 11 as it faces Randolph at 3:30 pm.
