ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Methodist men's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie against Randolph in a weather-shortened game at the N.C. Wesleyan Fall Classic on Sunday evening.
With the result, the Monarchs move to 0-2-1 on the season, while the WildCats' record moves to 2-1-1.
Randolph was the first to score after Anthony Fonnesu received a pass from Joe Uzdavinis at the 39:09 mark. The WildCats would take the 1-0 lead into halftime, before MU tied the game in the 62nd minute as
Tyler Ursuy registered his first goal of the season with an assist from
Seth Harrison.
The game entered a lightning delay early in the first overtime period and was eventually called due to weather and darkness with just under two minutes on the clock.
The Monarchs held an 8-5 edge in shots and a 5-3 advantage in corners.
Jonathan Moore (0-0-1) tallied three saves, while Erick Cortez-Martinez recorded five saves on the day.
MU returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 14, as it travels to take on Christopher Newport at 5:30 pm.
