LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Methodist wrapped up play at the Lynchburg Invitational on Saturday afternoon, falling to Stevenson, 3-0, and the host Hornets, 3-0.

The Monarchs (1-7) opened play with a 25-20, 25-22, 25-24 loss to the Mustangs (7-2). Methodist actually out hit Stevenson, .309 (32-7-81) to .281 (42-15-96), but allowed 14 service aces in the match.

Cassidy Hayes led MU with 12 kills and hit .474, but was the lone Monarch in double digits.
Brittany Ter Meer added eight kills and
Maggie Harris had 25 assists and a team-best nine digs.
Annabelle Ronelli had seven digs for the Green and Gold.

Stevenson was led by Annika Schwartz and Katie Leftridge, who had 10 kills apiece. Emily Castro and Sara Bollinger each had 17 assists, and Schwartz and Castro each added four service aces.

In the Monarchs' final match, Lynchburg earned a 25-25, 25-13, 25-22 win. The Monarchs had just five kills as a team in the first two sets combined, before righting the ship and collecting 14 in the third set.

Hayes led the way with eight kills, and Ter Meer and
Chyenne Pump each had four. Harris had 25 assists and 11 digs for a double-double. Defensively, Ter Meer and Hayes combined for seven blocks, and Pump added eight digs.

Jen Garrett led the Hornets with 16 kills and 19 digs. Lynn Walsh and Erin Farina had 25 and 19 assists, respectively, and Lauren Stanford chipped in 15 digs.

Methodist is back on the court on Wednesday at Guilford beginning at 7:00 pm.
