ST. MARY'S, Md. -- The Methodist volleyball team produced a pair of 3-0 wins on the first day of the Seahawk Invitational hosted by St. Mary's on Friday evening.

The Monarchs (4-7) opened play with a 25-8, 25-9, 25-15 win over Brooklyn College then closed the day with a dominating 25-7, 25-3, 25-2 win over Medgar Evers.

Cassidy Hayes accounted for 13 kills and hit .500 in the win over Brooklyn.
Jamie Jones and
Brittany Ter Meer each had six kills in the match and MU hit .250 as a team.
Maggie Harris handed out 24 assists and added nine digs.
Annabelle Ronelli led four players with 10 or more digs with 12.
Autumn Elder had 11, and
Kaitlyn Rush and
Sydney Schmeltzer each had 10.

In the win over Medgar Evers, the Monarchs hit a whopping .620 as a team and had 16 service aces.
Jamie Jones notched a career-best 14 kills and Ter Meer had 12 kills with a .647 hitting percentage. Hayes had eight kills on eight swings. Harris had 33 assists, while Hayes and Schmeltzer each recorded six service aces. Rush led the way with nine digs in the match.
