MU Men's Soccer Drops Ferrum, 3-0

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.  -- The Methodist men's soccer team earned a 3-0 win over Ferrum in USA South play at the Monarch Soccerplex on Sunday night.

With the result, the Monarchs improve to 8-3-1 overall with a 4-1 mark in league play and have won seven of their last eight games. Meanwhile, the Panthers drop to 7-5-0 on the year and a 3-3-0 conference record.

MU got on the board early when Zvi Ferrari received a long pass from Kyle Madden before notching his fourth goal of the season in the 8th minute, 1-0. Inside the 30th minute, the Monarchs almost doubled their lead after a pair of shots of quick shots after a corner kick, including one by Isaac Sanchez that was knocked away by an FC defender.

The second half started with the Monarchs adding to their lead as Trevor Hendricks fed Conor Morris a pass inside the box at the 46:59 mark, 2-0. Morris added his second goal of the day in the 83rd minute with an assist from Lawson Lamm as MU held on for a 3-0 victory.

Goalkeeper Jonathan Moore made two saves in all 90 minutes as he recorded his second shutout of the year. Derek Thomas pushed away three shots, but allowed all three goals in the loss.

MU outshot FC 13-12, including seven shots on goal compared to just two for the Panthers. The Green and Gold also held an edge in corner kicks, 4-1.

Methodist continues its conference schedule as it travels to face Maryville on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 4:30 pm.
