BEREA, Ky. -- The Methodist men's soccer team scored three goals in each half on its way to a 6-0 victory against Berea in USA South play on Sunday afternoon..
The Monarchs (9-4-1, 5-2) got on the board in the 18th minute as
Conor Morris scored with an assist from
Trevor Hendricks.
Doug Thom scored twice before halftime in the 42nd and 45th minute with the first goal assisted by
Kyle Madden, as MU held a 3-0 lead at the break.
In the second half,
Zvi Ferrari extended the Monarch lead at the 63:42 mark to 4-0 before Thom scored once again to record his first collegiate hat trick in the 76th minute. MU struck one more time at the 82:26 mark as
Honore Nshimiye scored with an assist from
Zach Woolard.
MU outshot Berea (0-12, 0-8) by a 22-8 margin, while also holding an edge in corner kicks 9-2.
Goalkeeper
Jonathan Moore made two saves in the first half before
Josh Helms took the field in the second half. He also stopped two shots. Noah DeHart pushed aside seven shots in the loss.
Methodist returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 14, as it travels to face Averett beginning at 7 pm.
