FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist women's tennis team opened its spring season with a 7-2 victory against Lynchburg on Saturday afternoon.
The Monarchs took an early 2-1 lead after doubles play.
Ashton Walker and
Davi Barbour posted an 8-1 win at second doubles over Emily Simpson and Sarach Wyly before
Riley Zopp and
Audrey Greeson recorded an 8-0 win against Kelsey Dowling and Lilli Altenburg.
Jenna Landis took a 6-1, 6-2 win at second singles over Halle Lavieri, while Barbour took a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Simpson at the third slot.
Sam Munze tallied a 6-0, 6-1 win against Wyly at the fourth position before Zopp registered a 6-1, 6-0 win against Altenburg.
Allison Himes captured the victory for the Monarchs after a 6-1, 6-0 win against Dowling at the sixth slot.
Methodist returns to action tomorrow, Feb. 12, against Barton at 2 pm.
