WILSON, N.C. – The Methodist women's tennis team fell 8-1 against Barton at the Barton Tennis Complex on Sunday afternoon.
The Monarchs (1-1) were swept in doubles action as the team of
Jenna Landis and
Sam Munze fell to Daria Avaram and Marissa Stevenson 8-4, while Davi Barour and
Ashton Walker dropped their match to Vanessa Sanoja and Ele Vietz at second doubles, 8-4. Lorraine Chon-Qui and Dana Kelly completed the sweep with an 8-2 win against
Vatrice Williams and
Riley Zopp at the third slot.
The lone victory for MU came from Munze at the fourth slot after earning a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Vietz.
Allison Himes was the only other Monarch to play to a third set, but fell 6-1, 1-6, 6-2 against Kelly at the sixth position.
Methodist is back in action on Feb. 18 in Fredericksburg, Va., against Mary Washington beginning at 2 pm.
