ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- The Methodist women's tennis team earned a 7-2 victory at N.C. Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon.

With the result, the Monarchs improve to 9-6 on the year with a 2-0 mark in conference play. Meanwhile, the Battling Bishops drop to 5-5 overall behind a 3-1 record in USA South competition.

MU started the day by claiming two wins in doubles play. The pairing of
Jenna Landis an
Sam Munze defeated Stephany Barbera and Andrea Tobar, 8-4, at first doubles, while
Ashton Walker and
Davi Barbour battled to an 8-6 win against the pairing of Nicole Halabi and Ana Diaz at the second slot. The team of
Riley Zopp and Audrey Greenson fell 8-3 to the tandem of Florencia Sorrentino and Manuela Cano at the third position.

Walker dropped Sorrentino 6-2, 6-2 at first singles, while Landis earned a 6-3, 6-2 win at the second position as the Monarchs garnered five wins in singles action. At the third slot, Barbour won by a 6-1, 6-3 tally against Tobar, as Zopp moved past Diaz 6-1, 6-1.
Allison Himes closed the match victory at the sixth position with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
