ORLANDO, Fla. – The Methodist women's tennis team wrapped up its spring break trip with a pair of matches on Thursday. The Monarchs were defeated by NAIA-opponent Aquinas, 6-3, before dropping a 9-0 contest to Division II-opponent Grand Valley.
The Monarchs (7-5) started the day against the Saints. The tandem of
Ashton Walker and
Han Le defeated the pairing of Martina Devetak and Haley Kuppler, 8-5, at the first position. Aquinas won the other two doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead into singles competition.
Audrey Greeson battled to a 2-6, 6-3, 10-8 win against Isabella Buck at the third slot, while
Aly Andrews took a 6-1, 4-6, 10-7 decision against Bailey Chouinard at the fourth position for the remaining MU wins.
In the second match of the day, the Lakers swept doubles play and singles play winning all of the singles contests in two sets.
Methodist will remain idle for over a weeke until returning to action on March 19 at Christopher Newport beginning at 2 pm.
