LaGRANGE, Ga. -- The Methodist women's tennis team posted its seventh shutout of the season as it advanced to the semifinals of the USA South Tournament with a 9-0 win against LaGrange at the McCluskey Tennis Center on Thursday afternoon.

With the result, the Monarchs improve to 15-6 on the year, while the Panthers finish their season 10-9 overall.

In doubles play, the team of
Ashton Walker and
Davi Barbour dropped Liz Minick and Jia Lee, 8-1, at the second position before
Riley Zopp and
Audrey Greeson defeated Denney Meigs and Betsy Markham 8-2 at the third slot. The pairing of
Jenna Landis and
Sam Munze completed the sweep in doubles with an 8-2 win over Jenna Eppes, who was named USA South Rookie of the Year earlier today, and Elizabeth Knott.

In singles, Landis scored a 6-3, 6-0 win over Knott before Walker finished off Eppes 7-5, 6-1. Munze completed a 5-7, 6-4, 10-5 win against Minick at the third slot while Barbour defeated Lee 6-0, 6-1 at the fourth position. Zopp claimed an 8-2 win while
Allison Himes earned an 8-0 win as the final two matches were played to eight-game pro sets.

Methodist returns to action on Friday against Huntingdon in the semifinals of the league tournament beginning at 2 pm.
