LaGRANGE, Ga. -- The Methodist women's tennis team earned a spot in the USA South Tournament Finals with a 9-0 victory against Huntingdon at the McCluskey Tennis Center on Friday afternoon.

With the result, the Monarchs move to 16-6 overall and have now shutout their opponent in seven of their last nine matches. Meanwhile, the Hawks drop to 15-6 on the year.

In doubles, the team of
Ashton Walker and
Davi Barbour moved past Heather Tabor and Clayton Waring, 8-1, at the second position, while
Riley Zopp and
Audrey Greeson defeated Caroline McBroom and Josie Waddell, 8-1, at the third slot. The team of
Jenna Landis and
Sam Munze dropped Dusty Catala and Mariah Bastos, also by an 8-1 count, at No. 1 doubles to complete go into singles with a 3-0 lead.

Allison Himes earned her 19th win of the season with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Kacey Stephens at the sixth slot. Landis followed with a 6-0, 6-2 win against Waddell at the second position, while Munze clinched the match victory with a 6-4, 6-1 decision at third singles. Barbour moved past Tabor 6-0, 6-3 at No. 4 singles, before Walker finished off Catala 6-3, 6-4 at the top spot. Zopp finished the sweep on the day with a 6-4, 6-4 win over McBroom at the fifth position.

Methodist, the No. 1 seed in the East, will face Covenant, the No. 1 seed out of the West, in the finals of the USA South Women's Tennis Tournament on Saturday, in LaGrange, Georgia beginning at 2 pm.
