Kristoffer Skarstein recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Methodist men's soccer team to a 3-0 win against Piedmont in USA South Play on Friday evening.

With the result, the Monarchs move to 3-2-1 overall with a 1-0 mark in conference play. Meanwhile, the Lions drop to 1-1 on the year and 0-1 in league action.

Skarstein started the scoring in the 11th minute when he took a corner kick from
Isaac Sanchez and headed home his first goal of the season, 1-0. Later in the half, the Monarchs struck again as
Lawson Lamm notched a goal with an assist from Skarstein at the 27:21 mark as MU held a 2-0 lead into halftime.

The Monarchs added another goal in the second period as
Nick Bryant scored with an assist by
Zvi Ferrari to give MU a 3-0 lead, which was the final.

Josh Helms made one save in all 90 minutes to record a shutout, while Elliot Sailes pushed aside six of the nine shots he faced in the loss.

MU outshot Piedmont 17-8, but the Lions held a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.

Methodist returns to action tomorrow night at Covenant beginning at 7 pm.
