LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- The Methodist men's soccer team used a four-goal outburst and then survived a late flurry to defeat Covenant, 4-3, on Saturday evening.

Gerry Madden scored a goal and added an assist and
Conor Morris scored twice, including the game-winning goal with under nine minutes to play, to lift MU to victory. Covenant made things interesting in the final moments, getting two shots from the within the box in the final seconds, but a header with 10 seconds to play glanced off the post and MU's
Josh Helms turned aside Christopher Kitchen's shot on the game's final play.

Isaac Sanchez got the scoring started for MU, scoring an unassisted goal in the 18th minute to give MU a 1-0 lead. The Scots answered just over four minutes later on a long shot from Josh Brower to knot the game at 1-1. The 1-1 score line held into the second half.

Madden scored off a feed from
Trevor Hendricks just over three minutes into the second half for a 2-1 lead, but Covenant answered roughly five minutes later to pull even once more at 2-2.

Morris added the first of his two goals in the 60th minute, off an assist from
Gerry Madden, to once again give MU a lead at 3-2, but the Scots answered quickly once more. Parker Owen needed just over three minutes to put the score line at 3-3, scoring off a feed from Jonathan Barrett in the 63rd minute.

Morris connected off successive passes from
Zvi Ferrari and
Tyler Ursuy in the 82nd minute for the eventual game-winner before Covenant's flurry in the final seconds.

Helms made six saves in the game and MU outshot Covenant 16-13. The Scots had six corners to four for the Monarchs, while the Scots committed 18 fouls to nine for MU and picked up three cards to two for the Monarchs.
