CARY, N.C. -- The Methodist men's soccer team scored three unanswered goals to earn a 3-1 victory against William Peace in USA South play on Wednesday night.

With the win, the Monarchs have now won six-consecutive games to pull their record to 7-2-1 overall and 3-0-0 in league action. Meanwhile, the Pacers drop to 5-4-1 on the season with a 1-2-1 mark in conference play.

WPU got on the board first in the 32nd minute as Chris Deleon netted his seventh goal of the year, 1-0. Minutes later, Doug Thom recorded his first collegiate goal at the 35:28 mark with an assist by Isaac Sanchez on a free kick to tie the score, 1-1, which held until halftime.

After the break, Sanchez sent a corner kick inside the box and found Lawson Lamm who headed in his second goal of the year to give the Monarchs a 2-1 lead. Trevor Hendricks also scored in the 74th minute beating the goalkeeper to his left side, 3-1.

Goalkeeper Jonathan Moore made three saves in all 90 minutes, while Christian Ortiz stopped three of the six shots he faced in the net.
