CARY, N.C. -- The Methodist men's soccer team scored three unanswered goals to earn a 3-1 victory against William Peace in USA South play on Wednesday night.

With the win, the Monarchs have now won six-consecutive games to pull their record to 7-2-1 overall and 3-0-0 in league action. Meanwhile, the Pacers drop to 5-4-1 on the season with a 1-2-1 mark in conference play.

WPU got on the board first in the 32nd minute as Chris Deleon netted his seventh goal of the year, 1-0. Minutes later,
Doug Thom recorded his first collegiate goal at the 35:28 mark with an assist by
Isaac Sanchez on a free kick to tie the score, 1-1, which held until halftime.

After the break, Sanchez sent a corner kick inside the box and found
Lawson Lamm who headed in his second goal of the year to give the Monarchs a 2-1 lead.
Trevor Hendricks also scored in the 74th minute beating the goalkeeper to his left side, 3-1.

Jonathan Moore made three saves in all 90 minutes, while Christian Ortiz stopped three of the six shots he faced in the net.

The Pacers outshot the Monarchs by an 11-10 margin, while each team recorded one corner kick.

Methodist returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 30, at home against Greensboro beginning at 7 pm.
