HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In this game, there were as many fouls (22) as there was shots. Methodist outshot Berea 15-7.
  • Action picked up in the second period. Methodist put up four shots in the first six minutes. Later, the Monarchs were awarded three corner kicks in the span of three minutes. It seemed like a matter of "when, not if" for a Methodist goal.
  • The lone goal came off of beautiful execution and teamwork by the Methodist forwards. Garrett Shan crossed the ball from the right into center pitch to Conor Morris. Morris then found Bryant who was able to punch the ball into the net from the penalty box.
  • Bryant had the bulk of the Monarchs' shots with five and two on goal.
  • The Mountaineers' Junior Gyamfi took five of Berea's seven shots.
  • It took nearly 15 minutes for a shot to register with the Monarchs' Hugo Kempainnen's shot veering wide left. It took 37 minutes for a shot on goal by Patrick Vazquez.
  • Most of the play in the game centered around the midfield and possession. Methodist's goalkeeper Scott Brecke had two saves. The Mountaineers' Clay Sheafer had four saves.
  • There were two yellow cards given to Mountaineer players, both came in the second half.

CONFERENCE CHATTER
  • Methodist is firmly entrenched in the fourth spot of the East division in the USA South Athletic Conference, regardless of the results of the last two regular season matches.
