Box Score 2 CARY, N.C. -- The Methodist softball team fell in a pair of non-conference matchups on Friday afternoon at the Triangle Softball Classic.

The Monarchs (1-11) were shut out by Rowan, 7-0, to begin play, and then dropped a 3-0 decision to Maryville to close out the first of three days of play.

In the loss to Rowan, the Monarchs collected seven hits on the day, including two each from Regan Parks,
Searria Fisher and
Aly Thomas, but three different Rowan pitchers combined for the shutout.

Lauren Shannon (1-0) picked up the win with 4.0 shutout innings. She allowed just three hits without a walk and struck out five. Emily August and Angela Lakatos combined to allow four hits and strike out three over the final 3.0 innings.

Randi Jacobs took the loss for MU, surrendering three runs (1 ER) on four hits and a walk with one strikeouts in 2.0 innings.

Against Maryville,
Brittany Jones worked around 10 hits and allowed just three runs for MU. She struck out three with no walk in taking the loss.
Chloe Hespeler doubled for MU, one of just four hits for the Monarchs.

Nicole Blackburn picked up the win for the Scots, starting the contest before being removed and then reinserted to finish her own game. She wound up with four hits allowed and one walk against five strikeouts.

Essence Strambler was 3 for 3 for MC, as was Morgan Brewer, who belted a two-run home run in third inning.

Methodist will play two more games in Cary on Saturday beginning with a 10 am matchup against Hood.
