Box Score 2 FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist women's tennis team split a pair of matches on Saturday.
The Monarchs began the day with a 6-3 loss at Barton before sweeping Fayetteville State, 9-0, in their second contest on Saturday.
In the win against the Broncos, the team of
Jenna Landis and
Han Le defeated Staisha Cain and Brittany Doss, 8-1, at first doubles, while
Hannah Abrahamson and
Audrey Greeson picked up an 8-0 win against Kayla Williams and Chynna Hunt.
Abby Siracusa and
Casey Carroll finished the doubles sweep with an 8-0 count against Charli Daniels and Deanna Butler.Â
In singles play, Le moved past Cain, 6-2, 6-0, at first position, while Carroll dropped Zyaja Mattocks, 6-1, 6-0.
Allison Himes,
Taylor Jackson, Abrahamson and Siracusa all earned 6-0, 6-0 victories to finish the sweep.
Against the Bulldogs,
Ashton Walker and
Laura Brown fought to an 8-2 win against Claudia Capeilades and Whitney Hamilton at third doubles.
Riley Zopp recorded a retirement victory and Jackson defeated Hamilton 6-1, 6-1 to get to the 6-3 match score.
Methodist returns to action on March 5 as it begins its Spring Break matches in Hilton Head Island, S.C., against Spring Arbor at 3:30 pm
