Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist women's tennis team earned its 10th win of the season as it registered an 8-1 win against Averett on Saturday.
With the win, the Monarchs improve to 10-3 overall and 1-0 in league play. Meanwhile, the Cougars fall to 3-2 and 1-1 in conference matches.
In doubles play, MU swept all three as the team of
Taylor Jackson and
Davi Barbour picked up an 8-0 win against Eleanor Craen and Carolyne Dunn at the second slot and
Laura Brown and
Ashton Walker swept Ashley Thornton and Tyler Goad, 8-0.
Jenna Landis and
Han Le moved past Hannah Mattson and Heidi Sarkkinen, 8-1, at the top spot.
In singles action, Landis fell to Sarkkinen, who is a two-time USA South Player of the Year, 6-1, 6-3, at the top spot. Barbour, Brown,
Riley Zopp and Jackson all picked up 6-0, 6-0 wins, while Walker moved past Crane, 6-1, 6-0 to pick up the 8-1 match win.
Methodist returns to action tomorrow, March 18, at 9 am as it faces Mary Baldwin. Later in the day, MU travels to face N.C. Wesleyan in a non-conference match up.
