Box Score 2 FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist women's tennis team split a pair of matches on Sunday.
The Monarchs started the day with a 9-0 victory against Mary Baldwin before falling to N.C. Wesleyan 5-4.
In its first match of the day, MU swept doubles play as
Davi Barbour and
Audrey Greeson defeated Alayah Austin and Esperanza Cadena, 8-0, at the first slot and
Riley Zopp and
Abby Siracusa dropped Anais Gutierrez and Guadalupe Reyes, 8-0. MU got a default victory at the third spot.
IN singles play,
Ashton Walker picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win over Austin at first singles, while Abrahamson earned a win against Esperanza Cadena at the second position.
Aly Andrews registered a 6-0, 6-0 win at the third slot, whihle
Abby Siracusa also won 6-0, 6-0 at the fourth spot.
Casey Carroll won 6-0, 6-0 at the fifth slot. Methodist did not lose a game in the match.
Against the Battling Bishops, Landis and
Han Le earned an 8-0 win at the first doubles flight against Florencia Sorrentino and Louise Hovhammer, 8-0. Barbour and Jackson got a 9-8 victory against Talitha Rowan and Stephany Barbera at the second slot.
Barbour earned a 6-2, 6-4 win at second singles against Rowan before Brown fought to a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 win at the fourth slot.Â
Methodist returns to the courts on on Saturday, March 24,against Meredith at 11 am.
