Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist women's tennis team posted its fifth shutout of the season as it earned a 9-0 victory against Meredith on Saturday morning.
With the win, the Monarchs sit at 12-4 on the season and 3-0 in league matches. Meanwhile, the Angels drop to 2-9 overall behind a 1-2 mark in conference play.
In doubles, the tandem of
Ashton Walker and
Audrey Greeson kicked off the day with an 8-1 win against Logan King and Alexandra Cheney at third doubles. The pairing of
Jenna Landis and
Han Le moved past Jacqueline Benton and Elizabeth Johnson, 8-0, while
Davi Barbour and
Taylor Jackson finished the sweep at doubles with an 8-1 count against Gillian Emerson and Emily Wilkinson.
In singles,Le defeated Cheney 6-0, 6-1 at the sixth slot before
Allison Himes tallied a 6-0, 6-0 win against King that clinched the team victory. Brown and Walker each picked up 6-0, 6-0 wins at the fourth and third positions, respectively. Landis dropped Benton 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, while Barbour finished the sweep with a 6-3, 6-1 win at the top slot against Emerson.
Methodist closes its weekend of play at Chowan tomorrow, March 25, beginning at 2 pm.
