Box Score MURFREESBORO, N.C. -- The Methodist women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 contest to Chowan on Sunday afternoon.
With the result, the Monarchs drop to 12-5 on the season, while the Hawks, who are a member of NCAA Division II, improves to 11-3 overall.
In doubles play, CU swept all three matches, but the team of
Davi Barbour and
Laura Brown played to an 8-5 count against Victoria Smolchenkova and Hannah Tarlouskaya at the second spot. Chowan earned 8-1 and 8-2 wins at the other doubles positions.
In singles play,
Ashton Walker played at the second spot and fought before falling 6-2, 6-3, while Brown played to a 6-3, 6-2 decision.
Jenna Landis won three games in the first set, but ultimately fell to Tarlouskaya, 6-3, 6-1 at the third slot.
Methodist returns to the courts on Tuesday, March 27, as it travels to Raleigh to face Wiliam Peace at 3 pm.
