Box Score 2 HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- The Methodist women's tennis team completed its Spring Break string of matches by splitting a pair of matches on Thursday.
In their first contest of the day, the Monarchs fell 7-2 to William Woods before coming back for a 9-0 victory against Nebraska Wesleyan.
In the victory with NWU, the tandem of
Davi Barbour and
Jenna Landis moved pasy Torey Kogel and Madi Hinshaw, 8-2, at the top doubles position, before the team of
Ashton Walker and
Laura Brown defeated Jordyn Fossel and Makinzie Vandewege, 8-1, at the second slot. The pairing of
Audrey Greeson and
Riley Zopp finished off the sweep at doubles with an 8-1 victory against Katherine Kjendel and Samantha Slizoski at the third slot.
In singles play, Barbour and Walker each earned 6-0, 6-0 wins at the first and second spots, respectively, to clinch the match win for the Monarchs. In addition,
Laura Brown recorded a 6-1, 6-1 win against Fossel at third singles,
Aly Andrews picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at the fifth slot against Kjendal and
Hannah Abrahamson dropped Vandewege 6-4, 6-0 at fourth position before
Casey Carroll ended the day with a 6-4, 6-4 win against Slizoski.
Against William Woods, Landis and
Han Le earned the lone win at doubles with a 9-7 win against Paige Smith and Felicia Cesar at the top doubles flight. Walker claimed a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Julia Perez-Wienese at the first singles position.
Methodist returns to action March 14 as it travels to face Pfeiffer at 2 pm.
