Non-conference slate ends with victory

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.  The Monarch men's lacrosse team outscored visiting Hendrix College 6-3 in the second half to secure the 14-10 non-conference victory Thursday afternoon.

The game was Methodist's final non-conference contest on its 2018 schedule, which finishes with five consecutive USA South Athletic Conference match-ups.

Thursday's game was a back and forth affair for the first half with seven lead changes and six ties throughout the opening 30 minutes. However, Hunter Vaughan scored 20 seconds before halftime to give Methodist an 8-7 lead and the Monarchs made sure to never relinquish the lead again.

It was truly a team effort with three different Monarchs (Mark Chatt, AJ Mejia, and Cade Crews) finishing with five points on offense. Meanwhile, the defense's 18 caused turnovers, including six by John Tartline were both team season-highs.
