ELON, N.C. Methodist's men's and women's track teams posted several noteworthy performances Saturday at Elon University's Phoenix Invitational, including a school-record run by
Lindsey Pritchard that shattered the old mark.
Pritchard attacked the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase and her aggressiveness paid off with a Methodist-record time of 12 minutes, 54.74 seconds. The old mark (13:35.71) had been set in 2012 by
Katie Ballard. Pritchard's time Saturday was third fastest, trailing only runners from Division I Elon and North Carolina A&T, and is the fourth fastest on the USA South Athletic Conference performance list in the event.
Leaping to the head of conference list in the men's 400m hurdles is
Jeremy Prichard. He finished second Saturday with a time, 53.44 seconds, that tops the league list and could be ranked as high as No. 2 in the country when all of the weekend's meet results are posted to the national database.
Prichard had previously registered the fastest time in the conference this season in the 400m run (48.96), but will have to settle for No. 2 now that teammate
Erran Greene posted a second-place time of 48.54 at Elon on Saturday. Greene could be as high as No. 6 nationally at weekend's end.
Moving up to No. 2 in the conference in the men's discus is Jon Patterson. The freshman spun a best toss of 37.19 meters (122 feet-0 inches) on his first attempt Saturday.
Climbing up a spot on the conference performance list is Methodist's women's 4x400m relay quartet of
Jimlyn Laurent,
Chakalyn Patterson,
Olivia Mague and
Machiah Moore. The foursome posted a time Saturday, 4:21.54, that is now third fastest in the league.
Stephen Dukes posted a personal record in the men's 1,500m run, placing fourth Saturday after his clocking of 4:13.62, which breaks into the top 10 on the league list.
