GREENWOOD, Ind. The College Sports Communicators organization released its Academic All–District men's and women's track & field/cross country teams on Tuesday, recognizing Methodist's
Rebecca McGaughnea and
Tydrick Stewart on the NCAA Division III squads.
McGaughnea, a senior thrower from Pittsboro, North Carolina, posted Methodist's top marks in the shot put, discus throw and hammer throw in 2025. Her personal best in the shot put was a throw of 10.34 meters at the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic in April. She continued to improve her marks in the discus and hammer throws into May, recording a mark of 34.41 meters in the discus throw at the LR Last Chance Meet. Less than a week later, her toss of 38.31 meters in the hammer throw at the ECAC D–III Outdoor Championships marked her personal best in that event. At the 2025 USA South Outdoor Championships, she earned bronze in both the hammer throw and the discus throw while finishing sixth in the shot put competition. This is McGaughnea's second consecutive season earning the Academic All–District honor in track & field. The dual–sport athlete also received the academic distinction twice in her basketball career (2023–24 and 2024–25).
Stewart, a junior sprinter from Fayetteville, North Carolina, was the top performer for Methodist in the 100–meter and 200–meter events. His top mark in the 100 meters came at the Braves Classic, where he posted a time of 10.56 and finished second in the eight–person final. The following weekend, Stewart posted the best mark of his career in the 200 meters with a time of 21.96 at the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic. At the USA South Indoor Championships in February, he took second place in the 60–meter final and third place in the 200–meter final. At the USA South Outdoor Championships in May, he claimed silver in both the 100– and 200–meter finals while helping the Methodist 4x100 team to a gold–medal finish with a time of 41.79.
The 2025 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student–athletes for their combined performances on the track, in the field, and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's and women's track & field honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
