Winston–Salem, N.C.  The Methodist track & field teams kicked off the new indoor season at the ASICS Get Your Marks Meet on Saturday, with many freshmen competing for the first time collegiately and several returning team members looking to set new personal bests.

TOP TRACK PERFORMANCES

• Micah McCorvey and Andrew Schienebeck each recorded PRs in the men's 60-meter dash, with times of 7.34 and 7.79 seconds. In the men's 400-meters, Elvin Chandler set a PR with a time of 58.06, but freshman Bobby Tann ran the better time of the two, clocking a 53.95. Freshman Keon Lassiter and sophomore Xavier Wilborn posted times of 2:17.70 and 2:22.04 in the men's 800-meters.
• On the women's side, freshman Amariah Gibson ran a 1:07.26 in the 400-meter race, outpacing junior D'Zariya Parran (1:09.86). In the 800-meter race, Alexandria Wilborn finished with a time of 3:05.52.

TOP FIELD PERFORMANCES

• J'Quez Jackson set an impressive mark in the men's high jump, clearing 1.90 meters. Jarius Fajardo wasn't far with a 1.75-meter jump. In throwing competitions, Elijah Merine recorded a mark of 8.62 meters in the men's shot put, while Messiah Fields and Tristan Bowser logged tosses of 9.96 and 9.19 respectively in the weight throw.
• In women's shot put, Carmin Davis recorded a good distance of 9.80 meters, while Caidyn Barriger and freshman Laila Johnson hit marks of 6.85 meters and 6.60 meters respectively.
