JACKSONVILLE, N.C. Sunday's low round of 295 finished off a championship weekend for Methodist's fifth-ranked men's golf team as the Monarchs captured the 2019 Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate Golf Championship with a 1-under-par 863 in the three-day event, eight strokes in front of both North Carolina Wesleyan College and Hampden-Sydney College who each finished with scores of 871 (7-over).
Methodist will also bring home the individual medalist honor as senior
Larkin Gross posted a 12-under 204 (70-63-71) in finishing at the top of the leaderboard.
The Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate is played across Paradise Point's Gold (par 73) and Scarlet (par 70) courses.
Twenty-nine teams were divided into two groups for this 48th rendition of the Championship, with one group playing the Gold course Friday while the other played the Scarlet layout. The two groups switch courses on Saturday, and once the accounting of the two days' accumulated scores is completed, the top 16 head back to the Gold course for Sunday's championship round.
Methodist carded a 4-over 296 on the Gold layout Friday, then an 8-under 272 Saturday across the Scarlet course to carry a 3-stroke margin into Sunday over N.C. Wesleyan and Hampden-Sydney.
The Monarchs' 3-over 295 on Sunday sealed the championship, Methodist's 13th Camp Lejeune title and its fourth in a row, matching the four straight won from 1998–2001.

Gross was tied for the Gold lead Friday after posting a 3-under 70, then scorched the Scarlet course with a 7-under 63. On Sunday his 2-under 71 added up to an individual medalist honor.
Finishing in a fifth-place tie was
Dan Shepherd (74-70-73—217) at 1-over, while teammates
Tyler Vincent (T-20th; 75-70-78—223, +7) and
Jacob Lowe (T-26th; 77-69-79—225, +9) helped the Monarchs maintain their spot atop the team leaderboad.
Brantley Phillips posted a 1-over 71 Saturday on the Scarlett course and a superb even-par 73 Sunday in Sunday's Gold Championship round, but after a change in par Friday on the Gold course, he was disqualified from that particular round for signing an incorrect scorecard.
Methodist will play one more tournament, the Navy Invitational on April 19-20 in Annapolis, Maryland, before contesting for the USA South Athletic Conference crown at the league championship on April 25-27 in LaGrange, Georgia.
