Methodist Sits 6th After First Day at Tartan Invitational

LIGONIER, Pa.  The No. 8-ranked Methodist men's golf team opened play at The Tartan Invitational on Monday at Laurel Valley Golf Course. The Monarchs carded a six-over-par 294 in the opening round before posting an 11-over-par 299 in the second round, finishing the day with a two-round total of 593 (+17).

OPENING ROUNDS
  • Freshman Griffin Lawlor led the Methodist lineup through the opening two rounds, carding a two-round score of 146 (+2) to sit tied for seventh. Lawlor opened with an even-par 72, highlighted by five birdies, before recording a two-over-par 74 in the second round with two additional birdies.
  • Senior Todd Moyer followed closely behind, finishing the day tied for 19th with a score of 148 (+4). Moyer also opened with an even-par 72, making four birdies, before carding a four-over-par 76 in the second round with two birdies.
  • Freshman Cooper Reitsma sits tied for 27th after posting a two-round total of 149 (+5). After recording one birdie in the opening round, Reitsma carded a six-over-par 78. He bounced back in the second round, shooting a one-under-par 71 with three birdies.
  • Junior William Plageman opened with a one-over-par 73, making four birdies, before finishing the second round with an eight-over-par 80 despite recording three birdies. His two-round score of 153 (+9) places him tied for 50th.
  • Sophomore Jack Haeflinger rounded out the Methodist lineup, finishing tied for 57th with a score of 155 (+11). Haeflinger opened with a five-over-par 77 before adding a six-over-par 78 in the second round. He recorded five birdies throughout the day, including three in the opening round and two in the second.
