Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Singles action on Sunday closed out the three-day Methodist University Women's Fall Invite, with several Monarchs participating in late rounds of the seven flights of singles at the Gene Clayton Tennis Center.
Playing in a championship match for Methodist was
Allyson Hays, who played to numerous deuce points with her opponent but fell, 6-3 and 6-0, to Averett University's Rainey Townsend in the winner's bracket of Singles Flight #7.
In that same bracket it was freshman
Sydney Bird with a win in the fifth-place match, downing Meredith College's Sarah Porter, 6-0, 6-0.
Reaching third-place matches for the Monarchs were:
On the consolation side of brackets:
- Allison Himes won in three sets, 1-6, 6-3, 1-0 (8), to capture seventh place in Flight #1
- Abby Caddick dropped a 3 and 0 decision in the fifth-place match in Flight #2
- Natalie Collins went three sets in winning the seventh-place match of Flight #4, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 1-0 (6)
- Luciana Forma was felled, 1 and 2, in Flight #5's fifth-place match
