HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Monarchs got off to a great start to begin the match. It only took 24 seconds before Casey Atwell scored the first goal of the contest.
  • After the Battling Bishops goalie kicked the ball to the center of the pitch, Atwell was able to find the ball and pop it over N.C. Wesleyan's back line heads. While out racing the defenders, he made another move to get it by the charging keeper for an open net goal.
  • From there it was all Battling Bishops for the rest of the match. They went on to score five unanswered goals, four in the first half and one in the second.
  • N.C. Wesleyan showed their relentless attack with the 24 total shots they took in the match, 11 of which were on goal, compared to Methodist's five shots, where two were on target.
NUMBERS
  • The Battling Bishops showed they possessed the ball more. The evidence of this was in corner kick opportunities, 4-1.
  • Cole Hupp, in taking the loss, made a game-high six saves, where Tobias Borzel of N.C. Wesleyan recorded one save.
  • Other than Atwell, Collin Hinnant was the only Monarch to register a shot on goal.
