Fouana-Seth goal prevented shutout in loss to Averett

DANVILLE, Va.  Methodist men's soccer defeated 3-1 by Averett University in USA South Atlantic Conference action Saturday afternoon at Daly Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A little over five minutes into the match, the Cougars registered the first score. A shot from the top of the 18-yard box beat Cole Hupp to his left to find the back of the net.  
  • Averett came up with their next two goals via penalty kicks, in the 15th and 68th minute.
  • The Monarchs would ruin the shutout when Kether Fouana-Seth found the back of the net. On a free kick, Christopher Shoffler made a high arcing pass into the box, where Fouana-Seth got his head on it for the goal.
NUMBERS
  • Despite the loss, Methodist controlled the ball more in the attacking third. The evidence of this is in corner kick opportunities, 6-0 in favor of the Monarchs.
  • Between both squads, 30 total shots were taken in the game, 19 for Averett and 11 for the Monarchs. Include the Cougars owning an 11 to five edge in shots on goal.
  • Hupp finished the match with a season-high eight saves and Averett with four.
