FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist men's soccer dropped its USA South Athletic Conference opener, 1-0, to visiting Southern Virginia University, Saturday evening at Duggins Soccer Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The only goal of the match came in the 45th minute. The Knights headed the ball in off a free kick to put them ahead.
- The Monarchs had an ample amount of shots throughout the game. Methodist out shot Southern Virginia 17 to 3 and registered more shots on goal (7 to 2).
- A combination of the Knights goalkeeper and defense kept the Monarchs at bay. Finishing the match with a game-high seven saves, three by the goalie and four by the team, to get the shutout win.
- Methodist clearly possessed the ball in the attacking third, for majority of the game. Proof of this was in corner kick opportunities as the Monarchs owned a 10-1 advantage.
NUMBERS
- Hudson Zeisman was the match leader in both shots and shots on goal with five and three, respectively.
- Along with Zeisman, four other Monarchs had a total of two or more shots.
