Cole Hupp Shines in 1-0 Game

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C.  Goalkeeper Cole Hupp was the definition of brilliant for Methodist despite a 1-0 loss to N.C. Wesleyan in USA South Athletic Conference men's soccer on Tuesday afternoon.

Hupp recorded a career-high 12 saves against the host Battling Bishops. Those are the most saves by a Monarch goalie since September 2011.

THE ESSENTIALS

Records: Methodist 0-2; N.C. Wesleyan 1-1

GAME NOTES
  • 24 shots and 13 on target by the Bishops, but it was a penalty kick that was the difference between a 1-0 game and a tie. After 13 shot attempts in the first half, N.C. Wesleyan was awarded a penalty kick in the 43rd minute and Lorenzo Cocchia's attempt barely beat Hupp to the left corner for the only score of the game.
  • Cocchia attempted a third of the Battling Bishops' shots with eight attempts, putting four on target.
  • The Monarchs' Brandon Cohen registered the team's only shot on goal while Daniel Magen and Victor Longa Pachkov also attempted shots for Methodist.
