FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. The Methodist men's soccer team played its first match in 472 days when they hosted Division-II University of Mount Olive in an exhibition contest at the newly-minted Duggins Soccer Stadium Tuesday evening.
The Trojans came away with the 1-0 win. This game is considered an exhibition for Methodist so this match result will not affect the Monarchs' record.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The stout Methodist defense was on full display by allowing just one goal. While the Trojans did have several chances, the Monarchs did a great job blocking several shots and shutting down the crosses and corners.
- Cole Hupp impressed in goal, facing 10 shots and recording five saves against just one allowed goal. The Mount Olive goal came in the 40th minute via a throw-in and the Trojans were able to win a one-on-one situation for what became the game-winner.

The Monarchs' season officially begins when they travel to Greensboro, N.C., to take on Greensboro College in the USA South Athletic Conference opener. The game is slated for Saturday, February 13 at 12 p.m.
