JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. 'Plus' scores were the order of the day, except for two leaders, in Saturday's second round of the 2021 Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational, with the Methodist men's golf team slipping one spot on the team leaderboard into a fifth-place tie with Averett University.
The Monarchs (290-298—588, 12-over par) have much ground to make up in Sunday's final round if they are to win their third consecutive tournament. Guilford College (284-284—568, -8) -- along with second place Huntingdon College, the only two teams to post sub-par team scores Saturday -- has a 20-shot lead over Methodist at the conclusion of Round 2.

DAY 2 NOTES
- Cooper Hrabak (72-71—143) remains in the top 10 of the 133-player field, alone in seventh place at 1-under. The freshman carded four birdies on the day and sailed in an Eagle on the par-5 7th.
- Tied for 15th place is Andre Chi (73-73—146, +2) after a fairly steady round that saw the junior earn four birdies against just two bogeys, while rolling in par puts on the other 12 holes.
- Henry Angier (72-75—147, +3) is in the top 25, tied for 23rd after Saturday's round. Angier registered 13 pars in his round and added a birdie on the par-4 8th, but he also found an extra stroke on four other holes to take some of the shine off an otherwise steady round.
- The fourth scoring golfer for the Monarchs is Zane Brownrigg (73-79—152, +8) who was challenged on the back nine, carding four bogeys and a triple bogey, before finding a better rhythm on the front nine after the turn, finishing his final nine in just 1-over. Brownrigg is tied for 53rd.
- Freshman Joseph Pritchard also found difficulty on the back nine, with three bogey and a double, but like Brownrigg he warmed up on his second nine of the day, posting a +2 on the front, which included his first birdie of the day on the par-5 7th.
- Of the 25 teams in the field, 23 posted over-par rounds Saturday.
