MISENHEIMER, N.C. Methodist baseball was undone by a middle-innings barrage that led to a 12-5 win for host Pfeiffer University in non-conference play Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Monarchs built a seemingly comfortable 5-0 lead after scoring four runs in the top of the third inning. Methodist began the inning with four hits in consecutive at-bats. Ryan Hill hit a lead-off double and Jacob Austin scored Hill off of a single. Cassell followed with a double to score Austin and a Rob Wilkerson single scored Cassell. The fourth run of the inning came via a solo homerun to right center from Hunter Hollman.
- The comfortable Methodist lead lasted for all of one inning. In the middle innings (fourth, fifth, and sixth), Pfeiffer scored 11 runs to flip the score in its favor.
- The Falcons scored six runs in the fifth inning to jump out to a 10-5 lead. Pfeiffer scored six runs off of six hits, thanks to a pair of three-RBI home runs.
- Pfeiffer also had a homer in the fourth, which resulted in two runs. The Falcons added another two runs in the inning, thanks to two singles, and a lead-off double.

- Of the 10 Methodist runners left stranded, five were in scoring position.
- Austin, Cassell, and Wilkerson (the 2-3-4 hitters) led the Monarchs with two hits each. Wilkerson also drew two walks. Hill and Holman each had a hit and a walk.
- Bryan Kowalski led Pfeiffer with three hits in five at-bats. He had a two-RBI homerun in the fourth inning.
