Andre Chi has been named one of five NCAA Division III finalists for the 2021 Jack Nicklaus Player of the Year Award, as announced Thursday by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Recipients of the Division I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA awards will be announced during The Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide which runs June 3-6.
Chi helped lead the Monarchs to a second-place finish at the 2021 NCAA D-III Men's Golf Championship, May 11-14 in Wheeling, West Virginia. The junior ended the four-day tournament in a tie for fourth place, leading Methodist in total number of pars (48) and pacing the field on the Oglebay Golf Resort's par 5s (cumulative 5 under, 4.62 average).
His 5-under par 65 on Day 2 of the event was a program low for a Monarch at the national championship and tied the Methodist low round record.
Over seven events in the spring, Chi registered top-6 finishes in five outings, including a season-best third-place tie at the Golfweek D-III Spring Invitational (April 2-4).
In the 2019-20 season, Chi was named to the Golf Coaches Association of America /PING D-III South All-Region team and earned a GCAA/PING D-III Honorable Mention All-American selection.
