HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first half did not see either side get on the scoreboard. Heading into the break William Peace was out shooting Methodist by a total for eight to four.
- In the 50th minute, the scoreless tie would be broken by the Pacers. Josh Rutland got himself open by luring the Monarch defenders toward the middle before darting quickly back the way he just came. This gave him enough space to fire off a shot that found the back of the net from nine yards out.
- William Peace recorded an insurance goal in the 67th minute of the game. Jorge Lemus received a pass from teammate Danny Alvarez. After a few more steps, Lemus ripped a shot from 25 yards away that was able to get by Methodist goalie.
NUMBERS
- The Pacers looked to be in control from the start of the match. Their five corner kicks to the Monarchs two shows that William Peace controlled the ball in the attacking third.
- Just like Methodist was out shot in the first half, the Pacers registered 15 shots (seven on goal) for the contest while the Monarchs finished with nine and two on net.
