BUENA VISTA, Va. Methodist men's soccer went on the road to Southern Virginia University for a USA South Athletic Conference match-up on Saturday. The Monarchs came away with a 2-0 win over the Knights at The Fields.
The win makes Methodist league record 3-1-1, which currently puts them in second place only behind William Peace University (the Monarchs only conference loss).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Just over six and half minutes into the contest, Methodist struck first on the scoreboard. The goal came from junior Hudson Zeisman with his team-leading fifth score of the season.
- Right before the halftime break the Monarchs doubled their score, 2-0. Zeisman was in on the action again but this time as a passer to Charlie Teachey, who found the back of the net in the 44th minute.
STAT FACTS
- Methodist took 15 shots this evening with eight of those on target. Southern Virginia could only manage two shots on goal of their four total.
- Freshman keeper Matthew Walker improves to 5-1-2 on the year. His five victories rank third in the conference, with all five wins coming as shutouts.
- Possession favored the Monarchs in the match. Methodist attempted 11 corner kicks, with seven of them coming in the second half.

- Methodist will host USA South opponent Brevard College next Saturday during Homecoming. This game will also serve as the Monarchs senior day with the men's team honoring their seniors right before the 3 PM start.
