DAY 1 NOTES
- Freshman Jonny Lewis (38-35—73, +2) continues to be one of the best Monarch golfers in his first collegiate season. His first nine holes saw him go +3 after three bogeys, but was just slightly better on the back nine with -1 off two birdies and a bogey. His two-over 73 puts him in a tie for 39th place.
- In a tie for 50th place, Cameron Cappuzzo (36-38—74, +3) concluded round one with a 74 (+3). He began the day with a birdie and was cruising until right before he made the turn, where he double bogeyed. At the time, it was just one slip up as he got back on track with two more birdies, but misfortune struck on his last two holes with back-to-back double bogeys.
- Will Campbell (36-38—74, +3), who is also tied for 50th, had a somewhat similar day as Cappuzzo with a three-over 74. He was one-over following his first nine holes but his back nine was up and down. Started off with a birdie then bogeyed two straight holes before ending finishing with a birdie and a double bogey on his last two holes.
- With a five-over 76 for the round was Chase Walts (35-41—76, +5), which puts him in a tie for 78th. Two birdies and two bogeys through the first nine hole saw his card at even heading into the turn. An additional bogey and birdie kept him at even until holes 14 & 16, where he tripled bogey and double bogey respectively.
- The final member of this Methodist five-some is Beau Brewer (41-39—80, +9), who went nine-over 80 in round one. He finds himself in a tie for 101st overall after a card that reads a birdie, three bogeys, two double bogeys and a triple bogey.
