HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist held a slight advantage in set one until a strong push by Pfeiffer saw the Falcons go up 11-6. Pfeiffer maintained that four to six point before pulling away at the very end to win the first game.
- The Monarchs jumped out an 8-2 lead at the start of game number two. The Falcons would turn that deficit around with a 7-0 run to put them in front 12-11. Just when Pfeiffer was getting back into the set, the team shot themselves in their own foot by giving up six of the next seven points to go back down 17-13. Those mistakes were costly as Methodist never gave up the lead again.
- Game three saw the Monarchs down 6-3 before scoring five straight points to take an 8-6 lead. The two teams matched point-for-point afterwards for a bit until a 6-0 run by Methodist made it 18-13. The Falcons attempted to get back into the set but they could not stop the Monarchs from going up two game to one.
- With the fourth set tied 7-7, the teams went back-and-forth until the score was 20-15, in favor of Pfeiffer, thanks to a good run. Methodist refused to quit as the team scored six consecutive points to go up 24-22. The Falcons tallied one additional point before the Monarchs registered the final point to win not only the set but also the match.
