Records: Methodist 12-15, Guilford 6-17

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Guilford went up early in the first set, 4-2, before Methodist found a way to knot the score up at 10-10. The Monarchs eventually pushed out to a 15-12 lead after a solid run and never looked back from there. The Quakers did have a good 4-0 run late in game one to get within three, 23-20, but it was not enough to stop Methodist.
- Game two saw Guilford take a 5-1 advantage to start. That did not stop the Monarchs from chipping away and taking a 15-12 lead in the process. The Quakers would tie the set up at 16 all but soon after Methodist put the score back in their favor, 21-17. Guilford would get as close as one point, 21-20, to the Monarchs lead but were unable to take it back.
- The third set looked like Methodist was on cruise control. The Monarchs started out on a 6-0 run before ballooning the score to a double-digit lead, 20-8. Methodist went on to win the set and match by a 12-point difference.
MORE TO IT
- Tied for the match-high in kills were Jeanana Fowler and Leann Sessoms, each with 12. Geneva Barriger was right behind them as she finished one kill behind, 11.
- This was the second consecutive year that the Monarchs have swept the Quakers. Methodist took down Guilford 3-0 on the road in Greensboro back in 2021.
- Hannah Hewett had a match-high 20 digs on the defensive side for the Monarchs. Along with Hewett, Carrie Jordan and Barriger also had double-digit digs, respectively 14 and 11.
