HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist held the advantage in the first set for the entire game. The biggest difference in this game came when the Monarchs were leading 12-8. They went on a 6-1 run to increase the deficit, 18-9. Even though the Pfeiffer picked up five of the next six points to get it to 19-14, that would not be enough to come back and take the set.
- Game 2 saw the Falcons jump out to a 6-2 lead. With momentum on Pfeiffer's side it looked like they would take this set easily until about midway. The Falcons gave up five points due to some ball handling errors to allow Methodist to get back in, 13-12.
- That was enough of a window for the Monarchs to turn the tide. The two squads would then get into a back-and-forth battle until the game was deadlock at 23-23. Some huge kills by Leann Sessom helped propel Methodist to a set win and go up two game to none.
- Set number three began with a tight contest between Pfeiffer and the Monarchs. Right after the Falcons knotted the game up at 7-7, Methodist went on to tally six of the next seven points to make it 13-8. The Monarchs used another key 5-1 run to help secure this set before taking the match.
