HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the 13th minute of the match, the Monarchs struck first with a goal by Sean Laney (the first of his collegiate career). Christopher Shoffler had the ball on one side of the pitch and crossed it to the other side to an open Hudson Zeisman. Zeisman would then one tap it to Laney to put it into the net.
- The score, 1-0, remained the same heading into the halftime break
- Just about five minutes into the second half, Methodist doubled their score to make it 2-0. With the ball in the possession of David Ospina just out on the side the 18-yard box, Ospina sent the ball toward the front of the goal. Running to the net was Shoffler and with a diving effort his leg got enough of the ball to knock it in.
