Methodist, Pfeiffer Play to a 2-2 Draw

MISENHEIMER, N.C.  In a road contest, Methodist men's soccer team took on Pfeiffer University on Saturday night. This USA South Athletic Conference bout between these two squads resulted in a 2-2 draw on N.E. Lefko Field.

JUST THE FACTS
Final score: Methodist ties Pfeiffer, 2-2
Records: Methodist 6-1-4 (2-0-1 USA So.), Pfeiffer 1-7-4 (0-3-1)
Location: N.E. Lefko Field; Misenheimer, North Carolina

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A foul in the Monarch 18-yard box incurred a Falcons penalty kick at the 39th minute. Ricky Hernandez-Sexton was called upon to take Pfeiffer's attempt, and he would get the Falcons on the scoreboard after getting the ball past the out stretched arms of Methodist goalie Cole Hupp.
  • Three and half minutes later, the Monarchs scored the equalizer off the foot of Kether Fouana-Seth. Hudson Zeisman sent a long throw into the Falcons box, where it bounced off a few different players before Fouana-Seth found it and scored.
  • Seven minutes into the second half of the contest, Fouana-Seth tallied his second goal. He found the back of the net after receiving the pass from Zeisman.
  • The Falcon game-tying goal was actually a self-inflicted wound as a mistake by Methodist led to an own goal.
NUMBERS
  • Even with some help from the Monarchs, Pfeiffer had a good amount of chances to score. The Falcons out shot Methodist by a margin of 17 to 12, including a six to three difference in shots on goal.
  • Both teams finished with eight corner kick apiece. This shows that possession of the ball way fairly even between them.

  • Pfeiffer goes on a two-game road series starting on Wednesday when the team takes on Brevard College in USA South action at 7 p.m.
