LAURINBURG, N.C. In the men's lacrosse team's first meeting with the Knights of St. Andrews, the Monarchs came out with a 6-4 win in the non-conference match-up on Tuesday afternoon.
Methodist shut the Knights offense down after the first quarter and kept them scoreless following their four goals in the first 15 minutes of play. With 1:24 on the clock in the third quarter,
Jesse Leyble gave the Monarchs their final lead (5-4) with his second goal of the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED.
- After Hunter Vaughan scored Methodist's first goal in the first five minutes of play, St. Andrews went on a four-goal run throughout the first quarter, scoring two within a 30 second span.
- The third quarter featured pivotal goals from Carter Favreau and Leyble. Leyble's first goal built momentum, Favreau tied it and Leyble's second goal was the go-ahead (with an assist by Aiden Foster).
- The Monarch defense held the Knights in fourth quarter, allowing only seven shots, two of which were saved back-to-back by Matthew Liquori. With 10:55 remaining in the game, Vaughan's goal in man-up helped to extend Methodist's lead to two. From there the team remained composed and worked the ball to stall time, limiting St. Andrews' final possessions.

- Vaughan and Leyble finished each with two goals, making it Leyble's first game this season with a pair.
- Cy Horner had a team-high four ground balls along with four caused turnovers. Favreau led the team with five caused turnovers.
- Jackson Bulkin and Liquori both saw 30 minutes of action in the net, tallying 10 saves between the two, Bulkin with six and Liquori with four.
- Methodist committed 22 turnovers, 16 of which were caused by the Knights, while St. Andrews only committed 17 turnovers, three of which were cause by the Monarchs.
