1-1 Draw Between Monarchs and Wildcats

CHARLOTTE, N.C.  Methodist men's soccer was on the road Tuesday night for a non-conference match against Johnson & Wales University. After 90 minutes of action, both the Monarchs and the Wildcats finished with one goal apiece at Frazier Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Monarchs were the first team to strike and get on the scoreboard. Sophomore forward Casey Atwell was able to beat the keeper and gave Methodist the early lead at the 10th minute mark.
  • The Wildcats scored the equalizer in the 63rd minute of the contest. Josiah Davis was on the tail end of a series of passes from Diaje' Hart and Lucas Lesh before Davis put it in the net.
NUMBERS
  • Both squads were about even in total shots with Johnson and Wales at eight and the Monarchs at seven. It was the Wildcats though that held a six to three advantage in shots on goal.
  • A very physical matchup between these two teams as 22 combined fouls were called.
NEXT UP
Methodist is off for almost a week before returning to Duggins Soccer Stadium for a non-conference game with Averett University at 6 PM on September 26.
