HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first set of the evening opened with a Pacer 2-0 lead but a kill from Leann Sessoms put the Monarchs first numbers on the board.
- After a 5-4 advantage for Methodist, William Peace set out on a kill trek, making an 8-0 run for a 12-5 lead.
- Aniyah Tate made an effort to close the Pacer gap by putting down two back-to-back attacks, with assists from Julia Mundy and Hannah Hewett.
- William Peace took strides to gain a larger lead and secured set one, 25-11 over the Monarchs.
- In set two, Methodist regrouped and made a stance in the set with a 6-4 lead. A kill from Geneva Barriger kept it tied at seven all before the Pacers leaked out on another run to make it 15-7. Barriger answered again, with two kills and a service ace from Hewett to close to gap to five. Both teams made runs but unfortunately the Pacers had too much cushion after the early 8-0 climb, taking set two 25-18.
- The Monarchs kept it close early in set three. With an attempt to get the crowd back in it, Jeanana Fowler put down a kill to make it 10-7 Pacers.
- William Peace chipped away at the lead, gaining three to four points every serve to the Monarchs' one or two.
- Fowler battled late in the set with two kills but it was not enough to cinch the gap, falling short 25-17 in the final set.
