Methodist Men's Basketball Team Releases 2023-24 Schedule

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.  Head men's basketball coach Aloysius Henry has announced the 2023-2024 schedule for the Methodist men's basketball team. In his second season at the helm, Henry will lead the Monarchs as their season tips off in just over two weeks.
 
Methodist opens the new season with two games at home, facing Guilford College on Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. before a matchup with Johnson & Wales University (N.C.) on Nov. 11 at 2 p.m.
 
Next up, the Monarchs make their first trip to Virginia to take on Virginia Wesleyan University on Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. Three days later, Methodist travels to Warren Wilson College, challenging the Owls at 2 p.m. on Nov. 18.
 
Back home on Nov. 21, Methodist hosts the University of Lynchburg at 5 p.m., followed by a post-Thanksgiving matchup at Piedmont University in Georgia on Nov. 25 at noon. Home again on Dec. 2, the Monarchs match up against the Owls of Warren Wilson once more, tipping off at 2 p.m.
 
In a contest that will be recorded as an exhibition match for the Monarchs, Methodist makes the short drive across town to take on Division II Fayetteville State University on Dec. 10 at 4 p.m.
 
On Dec. 12, Methodist hosts Newport News Apprentice School, facing the Builders at 5 p.m. The Monarchs remain home to host the Lions of Piedmont for their second matchup of the season on Dec. 15 at noon.
 
In their last non-conference game of the season (and final contest of the current calendar year), the Monarchs make their second trip to the state of Virginia to face Ferrum College on Dec. 30 at 4 p.m.
 
Methodist tips off its first game of 2024 at home on Jan. 3, hosting William Peace University at 6 p.m. On Jan. 6, the Monarchs welcome Mary Baldwin University to the March F. Riddle Center for a 4 p.m. matchup.
 
Methodist's next three games are on the road, featuring Greensboro College (Jan. 13 at 2 p.m.), Brevard College (Jan. 14 at 2 p.m.) and a second matchup with the William Peace Pacers (Jan. 17 at 7 p.m.).
 
With three of the next four at home, Methodist hosts Southern Virginia University (Jan. 20 at 4 p.m.) before traveling to North Carolina Wesleyan University (Jan. 23 at 7 p.m.), then returning to Fayetteville for a second meeting with the Greensboro Pride (Jan. 27 at 2 p.m.) and a first matchup with Pfeiffer University (Jan. 31 at 7 p.m.).
 
Methodist's first contest during the month of February puts the Monarchs back in Virginia as they face the Mary Baldwin Fighting Squirrels (Feb. 3 at 2 p.m.) for a second time. Methodist plays two final games at home – the first on Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. against the Battling Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan, and the second on Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. against the Brevard Tornados.
 
Playing their final two contests away from home, the Monarchs face the Pfeiffer Falcons on Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. before closing out the regular season on Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. against the Knights of Southern Virginia.
 
The first round of the 2024 USA South Athletic Conference men's basketball tournament will be held on Feb. 20, followed by the semifinal round on Feb. 22 and the championship game on Feb. 24.
